What No One Tells You About the Menopause
What No One Tells You About the Menopause

Working in a wellbeing shop, and doing some voluntary work with the menopause group for a local charity, many women have come to me looking for a 'quick fix' to guide them through the menopause. They all report different symptoms, so there is no one size fits all advice I can give them:
Anxiety or sudden mood swings
Sleep disturbances
Joint aches or unexplained pain
Hot flushes or night sweats
Brain fog or lack of clarity
Feeling fobbed off by their doctors, and being told it's something they just have to put up with “It’s normal, nothing to worry about” or “Just take some medication", they come to me looking for a holistic approach to the menopause.
Here’s the truth: your body is speaking to you, and it deserves to be heard. Menopause is a natural transition, but it can be challenging without the right support.
Why Symptoms Happen
Hormonal Shifts: Declining estrogen and progesterone affect mood, sleep, and joint health.
Stress & Nervous System Dysregulation: Menopause amplifies the effect of chronic stress.
Lifestyle & Nutrition: Digestion, sleep, and energy can all be impacted by changes in diet, activity, and seasonal rhythms.
What You Can Do
1. Gentle Daily Rituals
Short breathwork or meditation for stress and anxiety relief
Self-massage (Abhyanga) or gentle stretching for joints
Evening wind-down routine to support sleep
Use essential oils to help lift mood or balance emotions
2. Nourishing Foods & Herbs
Hydrating, grounding foods
Seasonal herbs like ashwagandha, chamomile, shatavari (although natural, they can have contraindications if you're taking other medication, so always consult a GP before introducing any new herbs)
3. Journaling & Reflection
Track symptoms and emotional patterns
Notice any energy shifts and triggers
4. Community & Support
Sacred circles or women’s groups help validate your experience
Learning from other women going through the same stage creates empowerment
The Missing Piece
Many women don’t realise menopause isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, energetic, and spiritual too. By honouring all these aspects, you can navigate this transition with much more ease and confidence
This is why I created PEARL - five tools and techniques you can use to bring relief to menopausal symptoms when they arise.
🌹What if you had a loving practice to support yourself through a hot flush, right as you feel that familiar heat beginning to rise?
🌹What if you could melt into full body, deep relaxation right before bed and ensure a good night's sleep?
🌹What if there was a natural remedy to support anxiety without having to take medication or HRT?
Each letter of PEARL represents a different technique.
